A case of identical logos
We’ve come across stories of identical logos a lot, and it might sound familiar to you too.
When I told a friend of mine about the concept for this site, he said ‘Hey look at this…’, and quickly got his phone out to show me a recent post on Facebook.
A mutual friend had started a business and had proudly posted her new logo on her timeline. However, just 24 minutes later someone else had posted a comment with a picture, saying: ‘You guys have the same logo’. She had no idea.
So how did this happen?
Well, it turns out she got her logo from an online logo builder. Services like this make their money from repeat sales. Nice logos can get downloaded millions of times because they are in demand.
You have no idea when you use these sites who else is using the same graphics and where they are. Or who might get it in the future. It never enters your head, and why should it? But it can come as a shock when you see it elsewhere.
I asked Gen how she felt when she saw the comment, and she said ‘violated’. She said she felt ‘dirty and wrong’. When she bought her logo, she had no idea this was the case and was totally unaware of any potential consequences.
Great value doesn’t necessarily mean free
Gen was seduced by the fact the site was a ‘free logo builder’, but it was also far from free. It was just the ‘builder’ that was free to use and not the logo itself. Once she had created it, she then had to pay to be able to download it, But by then she had spent so much of her valuable time setting up an account, going through the process and building her logo, that she felt she had no choice. She also keeps getting bombarded by up-selling emails, which is really annoying her.
But luckily for Gen, it was right at the very start that she became aware of this, and not after years of investing a lot of money applying it across her business. So she has the chance to do something about it.
Why we don’t do identical logos
At Limited Edition Logos, we only sell our designs 10 times. A professional designer builds each edition, so they look great too. You can also opt to change the colours and fonts, so each one can look very different to the rest.
We publish the sold editions, see an example in here and where they are located, so it’s easy for you to make an informed choice. And to give you complete peace of mind, you can also get complete exclusivity if all ten editions are available.
And just so you know, we do not hit you with irritating emails for additional services afterwards either.
If you have a similar story, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us and send us your example.
